Community Matters

We are committed to helping NYC grow and thrive. By partnering with community organizations, we are able to provide opportunities for our members to give back where their help is needed most. If your organization is interested in engaging New York Road Runners volunteers, fill out this form and we’ll contact you.

Our members have volunteered with the following community organizations:

New York Road Runners offers +1 opportunities to those interested in volunteering with the organizations listed above on a rolling basis. Look for these park clean ups and food bank opportunities in My NYRR. If you don’t see an opportunity, consider checking back regularly to see if those opportunities appear.

Once an event is full, it will cease to appear on the list; however, if a volunteer cancels, the event will reappear in My NYRR.

Interested in helping and inspiring people to run for life? Learn more about organizations that could benefit from your skills as a runner. Please note that volunteering with these organizations does not count towards +1 eligibility.

Achilles International is a non-profit that provides support, training, and technical expertise to runners at all levels. Athletes of all abilities participate with the help of volunteer running guides. Participants attend workouts and races using crutches, wheelchairs, handcycles, prostheses, or without aid at all.

Volunteers are needed every week to guide athletes at the Central Park workouts on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings. Click on the link to find out more information about becoming a volunteer.

Back on My Feet (BoMF) combats homelessness through the power of running, community support, and essential employment and housing resources. Our unique running-based model demonstrates that if you first restore confidence, strength, and self-esteem, individuals are better equipped to tackle the road ahead and move toward jobs, homes, and new lives.

Dedicated teams of volunteers run two to four miles with our members who are transitioning out of homelessness or members who are part of other underserved populations. Our six teams, located in East and West Harlem, Midtown, Lower Manhattan, and the Prospect Park area of Brooklyn, meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:30-6:30 a.m. We encourage runners of all speeds to become a part of our community!
